The study used data from the National Health Service, the National Health Statistics database, that includes the National Health Service and Health Expenditure Survey (NHSES). We found that the price of the Nexium 24HR was significantly less than the price of the Prevacid at the retail level (p<0.01). The retail price of the Nexium 24HR was higher than the Prevacid (p<0.01). The price of the Prevacid was significantly lower than the retail price (p<0.01).
Methods:We analyzed data from the Health Care Disparities Survey (HDS), a survey that includes information on healthcare spending, and reported the price of each product using the National Health Service and Health Expenditure Survey (NHSES). We also analyzed the retail price of each product using the HHS data. We used the price of the Prevacid at the retail level and the Prevacid retail price for each patient in the HHS survey to compare the price of the two products. We found that the Prevacid was significantly less expensive than the Nexium 24HR (p<0.01), but that the Prevacid retail price was lower than the Nexium 24HR (p<0.01). The Prevacid retail price was significantly lower than the Nexium 24HR at the retail level (p<0.01). The Prevacid retail price was significantly lower than the Nexium 24HR (p<0.01).
